On invitation of DIHT, fourteen Chinese private entrepreneurs
producing western and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) visited Germany in the
second half of February 2000. They were accompanied by the Executive Vice
President of ACFIC, Zhang Xuwu, and three department representatives of ACFIC.
German consumers' interest in natural medicine and Asian healing methods has
increased significantly in recent years, but TCM products are not yet widely
available in the market.
In the cities of Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Berlin and Munich, DIHT
organized visits of three German enterprises, one trade fair, the headquarters
of DIHT, three regional chambers of commerce, the German Federal Drug
Administration, the municipal government of Frankfurt, and two trade
associations of the pharmaceuticals industry. The enterpreneurs also used the
opportunity for business talks with related German entrepreneurs during a
specially organized cooperation meeting at Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and
Commerce and during a meeting with members of the Junior Chamber of
Bavaria.
